The Liberators is one of the longest existing rock bands in the Netherlands with an impressive track record. They play since 1979 a unique mix of rock with a blues touch. The many European tours brought the band from Spain to high Norway, sometimes invited by world stars to join their tour such as Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), Gary Moore and others. Tours were alternated with the release of three albums, released by renowned record companies in the Netherlands and abroad, such as Polydor and Phonogram. The band broke up in 1992. More than 20 year later was the sickness of lead singer Wouter Post, who past away in 2015, the reason to put the band back together.
The band was followed for a year by program maker Karin Hillebrand which resulted in the documentary “Sabbatical”, broadcast by several TV broadcasters. The film premiered in a fully packed Lumiere movie theater in Maastricht on 19 May 2017, followed by a concert in the Muziekgieterij in Maastricht and can still be viewed online via the band’s website.
The long awaited new album “Troubled Mind”, recorded in the Belgian GAM studio and produced by Lucas Vroemen, is out now. The 10 tracks, including two mysterious instrumental songs are prove that the band is still alive and kicking. The title track and epic track ‘Good Man’ reached both the #1 spot in Hit-Tracks Top 100. The band is recently added to Swedish label GMR Music. A new record is planned for 2021.

De vele Europese tournees brachten de band van Spanje tot in het hoge Noorwegen, soms door wereldsterren uitgenodigd om mee op tour te gaan als Robert Plant (Led Zeppellin), Gary Moore (✝︎) en anderen. Tournees werden afgewisseld met de release van drie albums, uitgebracht door gerenommeerde platenmaatschappijen in binnen- en buitenland als Polydor en Phonogram.De band werd vooral bekend vanwege de energieke live shows. En dat doen ze nu nog. Nog altijd weet de band kroegen, zalen en festivals plat te spelen met de unieke mix van rock met een blues touch EN natuurlijk een energiek optreden. De in 2015 overleden zanger Wouter Post, is vervangen door Stephan Hermsen, bassist is Ronald Roodbol.
TROUBLED MIND
De band maakte drie albums en een handvol singles voor Polydor, Phonogram en voor de het Belgische Munich Records. In 2020 kwam het lang verwachtte nieuwe album uit, opgenomen in de Belgische GAM studio. Op dat album, dat zowel uitgebracht wordt als (hardcopy) CD, als digitaal is te bestellen via de webshop van de band en bol.com (zie de website van The Liberators). Maar zal ook te beluisteren zijn via de diverse online muziekplatforms als Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer en Google Play Music. Op dit album staan 10 eigen nummers van de band, van het stoere Troubled Mind tot het ingetogen Good Man en een tweetal mysterieuze instrumentale nummers. De energieke title track en de slow blues ‘Good Man’ hebben beide de #1 positie behaald in Hit-Tracks Top 100. De band heeft onlangs getekend bij het Zweedse label GMR. Een nieuw album is gepland voor 2021.
